CeSIM at TourismA 2025: Sardinia shines with its UNESCO candidacy for the Domus de Janas

CeSIM presented the UNESCO candidacy of Sardinia's Domus de Janas and prehistoric monuments at TourismA 2025, with support from experts and institutions.

Florence, February 21-23, 2025 - The CeSIM - Center for Studies on Sardinian Identity and Memory proudly took part in TourismA - Exhibition of Archaeology and Cultural Tourism, a major national event dedicated to the promotion of cultural heritage.

At the Sardinia-themed stand, CeSIM presented the candidacy project for the Domus de Janas and other outstanding prehistoric archaeological monuments in Sardinia to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The project is currently under evaluation, with the final outcome expected by July 2025.

Several notable figures from academic and institutional circles participated in the stand:

  • Luca Galassi, Director of the Cultural Heritage Service, Autonomous Region of Sardinia

  • Laura Acampora, archaeologist from the UNESCO Office, Italian Ministry of Culture

  • Luca Doro and Giuseppina Marras, archaeologists from CeSIM

  • Prof. Lucia Sarti, former Professor of Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Siena

  • Prof. Donatella Fiorino, Associate Professor of Restoration at the University of Cagliari

TourismA 2025 was a valuable opportunity to build connections with national and international institutions, raise awareness about Sardinia’s archaeological heritage, and gather support for the UNESCO candidacy.
