The Unione Sarda dedicates an article to the candidacy of the Elephant Rock of Castelsardo to become a UNESCO heritage. An integral part of the complex of the domus de janas, the Elephant Rock is one of the most picturesque and visited sites in Sardinia. Its characteristic shape, similar to that of an elephant, is the result of the natural erosion of trachyte. The candidacy is part of the project “Art and architecture in the Prehistory of Sardinia. The domus de janas”, which involves 37 municipalities of the island, and represents an important step to enhance the Sardinian cultural heritage. The article explains the process of candidacy, which proceeds with the inclusion of the Elephant Rock in the Tentative List of the Italian representation at UNESCO.
