The Union Sarda: the Domus de Janas of Sardinia nominated for UNESCO heritage
The Unione Sarda presents the project for the UNESCO recognition of the Domus de Janas, which offers a view of Sardinian prehistoric life.
The Unione Sarda dedicates an article to the announcement of the candidacy of the Sardinian Domus de Janas for UNESCO heritage. The project, approved by the Ministry of Culture and the Italian UNESCO national commission, represents a unique opportunity in Italy to learn about the Sardinian communities between 7000 and 5000 years ago. The initiative was led by the Study Center “Identity and Memory” (CeSim/Aps) with the involvement of 63 Sardinian municipalities, with Alghero at the forefront. The approval is a significant step for the recognition of these sites, which include not only the Domus de Janas but also dolmens, menhirs, and prehistoric villages scattered throughout the Sardinian territory.
