On March 6, 2023, the project for the UNESCO candidacy of the Domus de Janas took center stage on TG di Videolina, bringing the incredible prehistoric heritage of Sardinia into the spotlight. Broadcasting live from the Necropolis of Moseddu in Cheremule, the report highlighted the importance of the Network of Municipalities of the Domus de Janas, with Alghero leading, 28 municipalities involved, and the support of the Center for Identity and Memory Studies.

An ambitious project that could make history: for the first time, Italy aims to include prehistoric monuments in the World Heritage List, with a journey that has already seen the visit of the UNESCO commission to the Park of Petroglyphs. The report also shed light on cultural and tourist valorization initiatives, such as the volcanic excursion and the in-depth study of art and architecture in Sardinian prehistory.

Beyond the conservation of a millennia-old treasure, the candidacy represents an extraordinary opportunity for the development of the territory and the revitalization of smaller communities, like Cheremule, among the municipalities with less than a thousand inhabitants. A great achievement for Sardinia, which aims to have the world recognize the value of its most ancient roots.
