Domus de Janas: Italy aims for UNESCO with the fairy houses

The article retraces the origin and meaning of these hypogeum monuments, illustrating how they fit into a unique archaeological landscape. The nomination has been promoted by the network of Municipalities of the Domus de Janas together with CESIM (Center for Studies of Identity and Memory) and concerns a set of 26 components dating back to the 5th and 3rd millennium BC, which testify to common cultural practices in Europe but reinterpreted in an original way in Sardinia. The UNESCO decision is expected by the summer of 2025.
